International Student Welcome

On a recent, balmy August evening, hundreds of new international students and parents gathered in the ballroom of Alumni Hall for the University of Virginia?s annual welcome program and dinner.

Standing in line for a glass of iced-tea, first-year student Peter Haththotuwa reflected on how he came to be a student at U.Va. He said he visited lots of different schools, but U.Va was his first choice. READ MORE>>

Saudi Students Enjoy 'Custom-Made' English Language and Cultural Immersion Program at U.Va.

Learn how a chance meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in April led to the arrival to Grounds in July of a group of Saudi female students, who spent a month in Charlottesville enjoying a custom-made language and cultural emersion program. READ MORE>>

Formerly housed at Peyton House, the Center has moved to the beautiful and inspiring environs of Hotel A, located on the West Range of the Lawn, just across from University Chapel. ?We are thrilled and honored to be so centrally located!" said Center Associate Director, Majida Bargach. Semester at Sea Inaugural ?Maymester?

2011 Study Abroad Fair Provides Students Sea of Educational Options

Join fellow students for the University?s largest study abroad event of the year September 7 from 11am to 3pm at the amphitheater. Fall 2011 Ambassadors? Speakers Forum Line-Up

The University?s annual Ambassadors? Speakers Forum kicks off September 29 with Kenya?s ambassador to the United States, Elkanah Odembo. The Office of the Vice Provost for International Programs will also host Canada?s US ambassador, Gary Doer October 13 and Switzerland?s Deputy Chief of Mission, Guillaume Scheurer, November 29 in the Dome Room from 5-6pm. Other dates, times and topics are being determined. Check the UVa International portal frequently for updates and additions to the schedule.

New to the Web 

Check out the new Worldwide Wahoo?s website. Worldwide Wahoos are volunteers who are committed to sharing their international experience through their outreach to current and prospective students and to the wider Charlottesville community. The program is another way the University is distinguishing itself as a premier global university and friend to the community.
